COLLABORATIONS
Allies in Art was developed to create opportunities for the artists of Center for Creative Works to work alongside their peers in the greater Philadelphia arts community. Over the course of eight week intensives, CCW artists travel to the studio of a local artist to take part in a project revolving around a specific material, technique, or approach, familiarizing them with the studio practice of a professional artist in the process.
The CCW Teacher Corps was designed to offer teaching opportunities for the artists of Center for Creative Works. Teacher Corps combines the skills that participating artists have already developed in the studio with an understanding for communicating these skills to a broad audience. This unique initiative is one of the only teacher training programs for adults with developmental disabilities in the country.
Center for Creative Works received a grant from the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council (PDDC) to facilitate a series of projects between CCW artists and visiting artists and musicians in the Philadelphia community. The projects provided the opportunity for the artists to not only to create art together, but to get to know one another as colleagues.
In Spring 2020, CCW worked with designers at Urban Outfitters to craft an exclusive series of products created using artwork from six CCW artists. An exclusive collection of apparel featuring designs from five CCW artists: Jenny Cox, Jerard Harris, Levin Henry, Judy Barnett, and Natasha Plaza.
