Wood Working

Our woodshop was created by artist and educator Sherina Poorman, creator of the Build-it Bus. In her mission to create accessable options for our participants, she developed a variety of tools adapted for hand-powered use. A bicycle operated lathe and band sander round out a diverse selection of options for building.

The woodshop develops a variety of products for sale, with stylistic inventions from each individual artist, including cutting boards, boxes, stools, candle holders, and chess sets. Using donated hardwood like cherry, white and red oak, and maple, our wood works are sophisticated, handcrafted, and entirely unique.
